Business expenses for the self-employed
This meeting concentrates on two common areas: motoring expenses and the use of home as a workplace. You can also find out about simplified expenses plus how using them can save time. We will also cover the importance of record keeping.

Capital gains tax treatment of compensation
Join us to find out about the circumstances where compensation can be subject to capital gains tax and how the tax rules apply.

Basis periods
Your basis period is the time period HMRC uses for tax and tends to be the same as your accounting period. This meeting looks at the different rules applied to commencement years and the effect on a basis period when there is a change of accounting date and overlapping periods. We will also give some tips for dealing with a change from sole trader to partnership and vice versa.

Trade losses generates a lot of contact with HMRC so we will be looking at the different ways trade losses may be relieved.

Income from property
During the meeting we will look at helping you minimise risk for your clients. We are covering, expenses, deductions, reliefs and repairs plus how to claim for the cost of replacing domestic items and the restrictions in place for income tax relief on finance costs.
