Income from Property, Basis Periods and Trade losses – Talking Points meetings

Posted by: , Posted on: - Categories: Talking Points

Welcome to this week’s Talking Points meeting blog. We have three subjects this week.

Income from Property

During the meeting we will discuss helping to minimise risk for your clients. We are covering, expenses, deductions, reliefs and repairs plus how to claim for the cost of replacing domestic items and the restrictions in place for income tax relief on finance costs.

As this is a popular subject, we have two meetings:

Thursday 4 January - 11am – 12:15pm        Register now

Thursday 4 January - 2pm – 15:15pm         Register now

Basis Periods

Your basis period is the time period HMRC uses for tax and tends to be the same as your accounting period. We will look at the different rules applied to commencement years and the effect on a basis period when there is a change of accounting date and overlapping periods. We will also give some tips for dealing with a change from sole trader to partnership and vice versa.

Friday 5 January – 11am to midday              Register now

Trade losses

We get lots of questions about trade losses so we will be looking at the different ways trade losses may be relieved.

Friday 5 January – 1pm to 2pm                    Register now

Get involved

You can ask questions, either before the meeting to the email address below or on the day using the onscreen text box.
