In July 2017, the Supreme Court released a unanimous verdict on the Rangers football case. The decision makes it clear where a sum is established as being your employment earnings; you cannot avoid tax by diverting or paying them to someone else.

You may wish to advise your clients that certain appeals to the tax tribunal can now be made using the new online Tax Appeal service.
The new HMCTS Tax Appeal Online service allows you to submit your appeal online. You can appeal against certain decisions made by us about tax affairs and any penalties incurred.
