As we enter the final week of January I wanted to let you know about a couple of pieces of information that you may find helpful as we approach the 31st January deadline.
I know that this year some of you and your clients will be experiencing problems caused by the recent flooding, and that’s why we sent an email to agents on Friday to explain that where you or your clients are unlikely to complete returns by the 31 January 2016 deadline as a direct result of severe weather, you can contact us to request additional time to file. In these exceptional circumstances we do not intend to issue a penalty notice if you notify us by 31 January 2016 and you/your clients have a genuine excuse for late submission of tax returns that are due to the recent unprecedented flooding. If you need information about what to do and have not received the email please leave a comment on the blog and we will send you the details.
As the 31 January deadline falls on a Sunday, our SA helpline and the Online Services Helpdesk (OSH) will be taking calls throughout next weekend, with extended hours on Saturday (8am to 6pm) and Sunday (9am to 5pm). We also have a range of online support to help customers with their returns, including web chat, webinars and YouTube guidance.
