We received many comments about our recent blog ‘Still moving and improving- update on HMRC’s website transition to GOV.UK.’ Here’s a response from Till Wirth of the Government Digital Service:
Thank you very much for your feedback about the layout of GOV.UK. We do a lot of user testing for the content formats on the site - including those for guidance. The current formats have tested well with users but we're always happy to iterate and improve GOV.UK. Tagging content to the appropriate organisations, topics and policies is important as it provides users with the ability to navigate around the site and find related content. Please let us know if you would like to be involved in any user testing and we'll look at how we can include you in future sessions.
Every page on HMRC will eventually be redirected to the most appropriate place - either on GOV.UK or The National Archive. We take redirects very seriously as it allows users to find the right content through bookmarks and direct links. We've built a tool that manages redirects for hundreds of government organisations (including HMRC). You can find out more in this blog post.
If you find any links or redirects that you think aren't working - please let us know and we'll fix them.
