Local Working Together

Posted by: , Posted on: - Categories: General

I’m Jill Hawkins and I lead the ‘E’ within ASSET – the Engagement Team. I’ll be letting you know about the activities of my team as they engage with the agent community across the country.

One of my team’s responsibilities are the Local Working Together (WT) meetings. I recently attended the Norwich meeting and was fascinated by the range of discussion held – from the new Alternative Dispute Resolution service to the difficulties of verifying calls from debt collection agencies. I was also struck by the interest shown by the agents in changes to our procedures and their challenge when we have not delivered the service they deserve. Thanks to Steve Dack (the local Agent Lead) and others at that meeting for making me feel welcome.

Do you attend a WT group? Let us know about your experiences. If not, why not join us? There are 48 groups spread across the country, meeting two or three times a year to address the ‘grit in the system’ and to find out about HMRC changes.

Another part of my team maintains and develops the Toolkits – aimed at helping and supporting agents by providing guidance on the errors we frequently see in returns. Due to recent changes in our Business Income Manual the team recently had to check over 150 links from the Toolkits to the guidance to ensure they all still led to the appropriate pages, all within a week – thanks team!

I’m off until the New Year now. I hope you manage to get a well deserved break too. Happy Christmas!

I'm the ATT representative for the Tolworth WT group.

Meeting quarterly, it is a great opportunity for representatives from the professional bodies to meet with HMRC.

We even had the pleasure of a visit from Lin Homer at one of our meetings.
