One small step.....

A little while ago I said I'd invite guest bloggers to post, well here's one from HMRC Digital about a new service.

Hi, I’m Umer Ehsan and my job title is Head of Design and Delivery for the Application Programming Interface (API) Programme. It’s my job to improve your interactive experience with HMRC through third party software and I thought you’d like to know that this week we launched the Making Tax Digital for Business private beta. This is how future software and apps for businesses and agents will be able to link to HMRC systems.

At the moment this beta is just available for developers of tax and business software products to begin experimenting and testing the compatibility between our systems and theirs. This is an important step but the work is still in very early stages and our forthcoming consultations will inform the design of these tools.

From your perspective, expect to hear soon about the first API-enabled accounting packages and record-keeping apps – and then your clients will start to get involved, helping to shape the finished products.

I’ll post again to let you know how we’re getting on. If you’re interested, I also post updates on our API work on the HMRC digital blog.

So, no giant leaps for mankind yet. But we’re working on it.

Thank you Umer for an interesting blog and please do let me have your comments. As we approach the EU Referendum we are about to start "Purdah" which means we will not be posting responses or new blogs till after 23rd June. Further information can be found here.
