Phishing update and current scam

Posted by: , Posted on: - Categories: General, News and Updates

In the run up to the SA filing deadline we all have to be on our guard against potential digital security threats. You hold a lot of confidential information about your clients, and that's how it should remain - confidential. Scammers are becoming very good at posing as officials to gain vital information, and if you receive any emails from us that you are unsure about, please do report them to our Phishing Team at phishing@hmrc.gsi.gov.uk

In the past week a new phishing scam has enticed agents to open an email containing malware by using the subject of "Complaints".  Be on the lookout for this scam and do not open the attachment, and please have a look at this and other examples on our website.

Within HMRC all staff undertake mandatory training courses to make sure they can identify potential dangerous emails, please take the time to make sure everyone in your office knows what to look for. My blog in June gave some useful information on what to look for and actions you can take.

Why not sign up for our email alerts and let us safely share our news with you.

Let’s work together to stamp out these threats.
