Hello, I’m Toni Clark. I recently joined HMRC from the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) as HMRC’s Head of Digital Agent Engagement – and I’ll be writing this blog from now on.
Firstly, a bit about me. I’ve been a Civil Servant for over 20 years, spending most of my career in DWP, most recently working in Private Pensions on the Automatic Enrolment programme. I’m a huge advocate of working in an Agile way, supporting the Government’s Digital by Default and Open Policy making strategies. I think working in this way can bring benefits for all parties.
In my new role I’m leading work looking at how we can engage with Agents more digitally in the future. I have some ideas, which I hope to share with you in the coming months, and get your thoughts and input as we move forward.
This week has been really interesting for me, as our Digital Teams are supporting the Department for Business, Innovation & Skills’ campaign to promote this year’s ‘Small Business Saturday’ on 6 December. It encourages communities up and down the country to support their local, small businesses. This is its second successful year; the first event in 2013 generated an extra £500 million worth of business. I’m sure you’ll all have an interest in seeing both your own, and your clients’ businesses grow.
Do take a look at the Small Business Saturday website. And if you’re getting involved this year, we’d be pleased to hear how – you can tell us by leaving a comment on this blog.
